An outfit for a soft toy dog
Work Description
Making clothes for soft toys are perfect to use leftovers fabrics. I used some leftover green jogging fabric for the trousers and a black-white striped jersey for the collarless shirt. I started with the shirt was finished first. For some interest a big pockets is added and it closes with three small snaps. I used a cross-stitch to mark the snaps instead of buttons. If a button comes loose a child can put it into its month. While I was making this shirt I was was already thinking about a solution for the tail. In the original version an opening is made in the back seam but because the tail is quite big I wanted another solution. When a child is dressing the dog the pants must come of easy and to pull on. So after a while I wanted to create a large round hole. The easiest way was to make a fabric grommet by using a small piece fabric. I skipped the centre back seam and draw a circle the middle of the back. A small piece of fabric was stitched on the right side of the fabric and after stitching the small piece was pulled through the whole to the wrong side. By this way I created a fabric version of a grommet. To keep this small piece of fabric in place the grommet was topstitched.
