Loopsan

My name is San and I'm the creative mind and voice behind Loopsan. Originally from Germany I move to the UK in 2010 to adventure a geeky life as a PhD student. Initially I ended up in Birmingham however after finishing my PhD I moved to Melton Mowbray, a small town in Leicestershire where I now happily live with my husband and 2 young children.

After learning the arts of crochet of my mum as a young child I picked up my crochet hook again as a way to relax during the stressful PhD times. I quickly started to design my own patterns as I couldn't really find what I was looking for in all the books I was reading and at the same time started blogging to share my makes with my family and friends all over the world. I never imagined that just one year later I would start to design patterns for magazines like Inside Crochet and Crochet Now (just to name a few) and couldn't believe my luck when one of my designs was the Inside Crochet cover star in 2015.

Since we are living in a 60's house most of my designs are inspired by a mid-century modern feel. I like to design items with a slight vintage touch, which can usually be made by an advanced beginner. Since having my children my design focused changed a little bit as I'm designer primarily for my hardest critics in the world but the smile on their face after a design come to life makes it all worthwhile.

I'm super excited to have now my own little corner on Makerist where I've added some of my favourite designs for you to explore.
