Materials you need at home:
- sweatshirt fabric, width 140cm / 55.1” | Size 1: length 95cm / 37.4” | Size 2: length 108cm / 42.5”
- Thread
- jersey needle
- twin needle (optional)
- bias tape, 2.5m / 98.5”
This cosy sweatshirt has side slits and various seam lines across the back. It is simple to sew. For added interest, we have bound some edges with bias tape, but you can finish the raw edges in any way you like or you can just leave them. The small remnant pieces can be used for an appliqué or as patch pockets.
💡 The coat is from the German-language book "Zero Waste beim Nähen" by author Stefanie Kroth
Zero waste in sewing: We should make the best possible use of fabric as a valuable resource and ideally manage without waste. This works with a slightly different cut, clever design ideas and a sporty laying technique.
What is special about the zero waste design process? The design process involves the fabric much more and the design and pattern are closely interlinked from the very beginning. I often make paper models, drape them on the mannequin or on the 3D avatar.
