Work Description

Caroline is a Georgian style doll and is inspired by the Jane Austen novels. Known as the Georgian era, King George III reigned the U.K in 1808. During this period the beginnings of the industrial revolution were starting in Britain. Women's fashions were inspired at this time on neoclassical themes. The bodice became closely fitted under the bust and flowed downwards with loose skirts. This gave a natural look. Young ladies would wear the colours of: pinks, lights blues & lilacs. Maturer ladies wore the colours of: dark blues, reds, purple & yellow. Women would wear long gloves, shawls and jewellery. They would have accessories of parasols or small bags. Hair at this time was worn tightly with a centre parting and ringlets by the ears. Caroline has an empire line dress (term used based on the year), the skirt is high waisted and fits under the bust. She has short pink sleeves with long white sleeves underneath.
