Tell us about Schnittliebe
"Hi, I am Annika, dressmaker and pattern maker from Berlin, Germany. Schnittliebe is a label for feminin sewing patterns with special details. My aim is that your selfmade clothes are your absolute favorite pieces in your wardrobe. My patterns and instructions are easy to follow and fashionable to wear. My sewing patterns are made for beginners as well as advances sewists."
What inspired you to become a pattern designer?
"I love the whole process from the idea to the actual garment. I like all the different aspects of the design process over the technical part when creating the pattern all the way to using my hands and sew it all together."
Why is pattern design so important to you?
"It gives me the freedom to create my own wardrobe and be independent from the (fast) fashion industry."
Shop Her PatternsDo you have your own studio? Tell us about your workspace!
"I do have a small studio to create my patterns and develop prototypes. It is my happy place and calms me down after a busy week at work."
What's your favourite pattern you've created?
"I really love the Amsterdam T-Shirt. It is so versatile and you can create a lot of different looks from it. It is definitely my favourite go to for a basic look!"
Do you make any of the products yourself and if so, do you enjoy the making process?
"I make the prototypes of each pattern. I really enjoy seeing the process of it all coming together but sometimes it can be a bit frustrating if things do not turn out the way you have imagined them. But this is also part of the process.!"
When you’re experiencing a creative block, how do you get back into the spirit?
"I try not to force it because I know it will pass. Sometimes it takes a while but then I am suddenly full of new ideas and pumped to try them!"

What do you like about the Makerist platform to sell your patterns on?
"For me as a German Designer it gives me the opportunity to reach internationals with my English (translated) patterns. My website is only in German so far and not really easy to find for anyone who does not speak German. This is why I love the possibility to be among other great designers on Makerist and get in touch with internations through Instagram who found me on Makerist.!"
