Coquillage is the ideal wrap jacket PDF pattern for the transitional season. Designed as a real cozy enveloppe (coquillage means shell in French), the pattern is perfect for quilted fabrics. Choose a pre-quilted fabric, or quilt it yourself for a totally unique jacket. The pattern offers four versions but with two possible necklines, two lengths, an optional elasticated waist, and 3 different types of pockets, there are many combinations. Indeed you have the choice between patched pockets (two possible styles) and single welt pockets, depending on your preference and/or level.
It fits busts from 80cm / 31 1/2" to 114cm / 45".
Coquillage is an intermediate level pattern. It offers bias binding finishes inside and out and different types of pockets for all levels (welt pockets are more advanced than patched pockets). The pattern also explains how to quilt your own fabric to make a completely personalised jacket. A glossary is available on www.camimade.com/glossary/.
Fabric suggestions: choose a fabric that is already quilted or quilt your own fabric for a totally unique jacket. If your choose to quilt your own fabric, you will need the following fabric lengths for each layers of the quilt (top fabric, wadding/batting and lining).
Samples shown in the pictures: I sewed the navy blue long jacket (view C) in a lined jacquard fabric (that looks quilted) from Merchant & Mills. I made the purple jacket (view A) in a quilted fabric “Thelma Thermal Quilt” from Mind The Maker. For the patchwork jacket (view A with welt pockets), I sewed the patchwork using only fabric scraps, and quilted it myself with a cotton lining and a 100% cotton wadding.
Measurements: bust 84cm (33") - waist 69cm (26 ¾") - hip 93cm (36 1/2") - 1.58m tall (5'2"). I made all the samples in size B.
