Perfect for a laid-back look with effortless style, cargo pants have been a long-standing love of mine. Forget the low-slung sneaker covering styles of the 1990’s, these Wildflower cargo pants are a modern take on a classic, with a high waist, exposed zip, elastic cuff ankles and of course - signature side leg pockets.
The fashion revival of cargo pants has not only brought back the most comfortable and practical trousers you can wear, but these casual classics have evolved into a super versatile addition to your wardrobe. No longer destined to be worn with just sneakers and sweat tops, cargo pants look cool and contemporary teamed with blouses, ‘fancy’ tops, ballet pumps and even heels.
I’ve given the Wildflower cargo pants an edgy touch by including an exposed zipper. You can really make a feature of this with a gleaming metal zip giving a utility feel. Another benefit of the cargo pant evolution is that you can create unique looks using an endless range of fabrics. Twill, lightweight denim, duck, heavier linens and cotton blends are ideal, and then you can opt for plain or printed fabrics which will all give individual looks. Tonal prints work really well, giving a nod to the camo aesthetic but in florals or geometric designs.
The Blossom crop top is perfect to team with these trousers (it really is a top that goes with almost everything!), and of course sneakers and sweats still have their place alongside the Wildflower cargo pants. There is a lot of 90’s fashion that I’m happy to leave in the past, but I’m so glad cargo pants are back – and we can definitely rock that look for the 2020s.
