Toph is named for the highly skilled earth and metal bender from Season 1 of the Avatar. Organic forms gently grow from the brim of the Hat towards the crown, each created by short rows.
Featuring short row colourwork, each of the Elemental Hats is knit sideways and grafted. The pattern is presented as a map for the short rows - a directional chart - that will help guide you through the pattern.
Skills required: Knit & purl sts, short rows, provisional cast-on, grafting, chart reading
Note: Sizing in this pattern is achieved through gauge. The sideways nature of this design creates a great deal of stretch, so do consider the negative ease. Changes in gauge or yarn weight will mean a change in the size of the Hat.
