These lovely fair isle handwarmers have a beautiful forest fair isle detail around the knuckles. There is simple ribbing around the writs, knuckles, and thumb hole. This is a great fair isle beginner project with the simple fair isle chart worked for a small portion of the handwarmers and no more than two different colours worked per round.
The handwarmers are knit in the round with 4mm (6US) double pointed needles. The pattern includes instructions for two sizes, with blocked measurements around the knuckles of 7” and 8.5”.
The sample is knit with Willow & Lark, Woodland (DK weight; 50% wool, 25% alpaca, 25% viscose), 50 grams/175meters (191 yards), in:
1 Oxford Navy (Colour A) 1 Cherry (Colour B) 1 Rolled Oats (Colour C) There are endless potential great colour combinations and other types of yarn that would suite this pattern!
The pattern includes a chart for the fair isle section of the handwarmer.
Hope you enjoy the pattern! Happy knitting!

We are three sisters that love knitting!
Our Scottish grandmother taught us to knit when we were 5 and 7 years old and we have been knitting ever since. Over the years after adapting patterns and then designing various pieces Fiona realised that we should be making these new creations into patterns that can then be shared with others. All three of us have our own design styles and interests but love to help each other with these designs even though we have become geographically dispersed across Canada, England, and Scotland. In terms of knitting style we love natural fibers and colour! Fiona in particular has a thing for fair isle design and Hannah loves wildlife (birds in particular).
