- 1 x 170g ball Lion Brand Yarns Wool Ease Thick and Quick – (97m/106yd per 170g ball) – Super Bulky 6 – Colour Glacier 105 or Fisherman 99, or any other colour.
- 8mm (UK0 – US11) single-point knitting needles.
- A large/tapestry needle to sew up and weave/sew ends in.
- If using - 4 pompoms approx. 5cm/2in in diameter. You can make these with a pompom maker/card circles or use fluffy pompoms.
- • 4 small brown/black buttons approx. 11mm(3/8in) for the eyes and matching cotton thread. OR a small amount of black yarn to over-sew in place, if you don’t wish to use buttons.
Big Owl Tea Cosy – made with super-chunky/super-bulky yarn so your tea stays hot!! With a cute owl on both sides and tied with a pretty ribbon! Or there is an option of a plaited cord and pompoms - this is not shown in the photos, but instructions are given in a photo tutoriel.
It is an easy/intermediate knit, knitted flat and sewn up. Basic skills are needed, plus yarn forward, knit 2sts together and very simple cable, simple even for a first-time cabler! Line by line instructions in English, with British and US terms. I have used a ball of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick, but any super-chunky/super-bulky (category 6) yarn should be fine.
Great for presents, or keep it for yourself!

The Lonely Sea - Heather Corcoran
I have a bag that say ' I knit therefore I am' - sums me up perfectly! I love to knit and love to design! I have knitted for years, and made and sold literally hundreds of owl gloves and fingerless mitts on-line. About 8 years ago, I decided to give designing and writing patterns a go, and I absolutely love it! The whole process is absolutely captivating, and I love to see other knitters' projects made from my patterns. My beautiful cavvy, Honey, is my constant companion, and she sleeps next to me on the settee while I knit. You can also find me on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/thelonelyseapatterns/
