There is one piece of clothing that no one can do without: the classic sweatpants. Even if Karl Lagerfeld is turning in his grave, sweatpants are THE ultimate must-have for kids: for at home, sports or school/kindergarten! By the way, the pattern TEPAT is also available for men and women!
TEPAT is the sophisticated sister of the traditional sweatpants as it has a very modern character thanks to the very easily incorporated pockets with zippers, the fake fly and the slightly slimmer shape of the legs. If you like a more elegant version, just sew TEPAT out of black sweatshirt fabric and use metallic zippers. Then even Karl Lagerfeld would be satisfied.
Simply right, this is TEPAT in almost every situation. Because TEPAT is Indonesian and translates into "right".
The sweatpants with the sophisticated pockets are quite simply sewn. Even as a beginner you can safely attempt trying out this pattern. The zippers are particularly easy to incorporate thanks to the division. The whole pants can be sewn quickly and easily within two hours.
Fabric recommendations:
Suitable for TEPAT are classic sweatshirt fabric, French Terry, double- faced fabrics, elastic corduroy, quilted fabric or slightly firmer (but stretchy) jacquard. For the pockets you can also use jersey.
For the leg cuffs and the waistband you will also need cuff fabric. Make sure that it is not too floppy. In order for the waistband to stay in place, we recommend using an elastic band.
Fabric consumption:
For the sweatpants TEPAT you need fabric for the pockets and the legs (based on 140 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffer):
You will need the following amount of fabric:
Size 98/104: 0.55 m Size 110/116: 0.65 m Size 122/128: 0.75 m Size 134/140: 0.85 m Size 146/152: 0.95 m Size 158/164: 1.10 m
All sizes: - 0.25 m for pockets - 0.30 m cuff fabric - 2 zippers, 15 cm long (metal or plastic, not divisible) - elastic, 4 cm wide, corresponding to the waist circumference - color matching thread
