Materials you need at home:
- All the accessories can be made from knit fabric, but you can also use woven fabric for some of them. The two pieces that must be sewn in knit are the boots and the cuffs. For the cape, mask, and crown, you can use either knit or woven fabrics.
- You can use any type of jersey (cotton, laser, milano, viscose, velvet, linen, french terry…), with medium to medium-heavy weight (between 200 and 340 g/m²). The essential requirement is that the stretch rate must be between 40% and 60%. For smaller sizes, choose a fabric with close to 60% elasticity.
- For woven fabrics, opt for lightweight (135 g/m² to 200 g/m²) to medium-weight (200 g/m² to 270 g/m²) materials such as cotton poplin, linen, taffeta, satin…
- As for the cape, I chose not to line it to avoid adding weight, which could cause it to fall backward (the neckband should not choke the child, which can happen if you choose a fabric that is too heavy). However, the pattern allows for a lined cape if you wish (using the pleat-free version for the lining), but in that case, choose particularly light fabrics.
