A softly falling skirt, which lightly swirls around the legs - isn't that a wonderful feeling? It feels just as exhilarating when barefoot in the summer as it does when wearing boots in the cold season. That's exactly why we've made this pattern.
UDARA is available in a classic style with patch pockets in the front and back, as well as plain and discreet with inseam pockets. The skirt is gathered at the waistband and closed with a button placket at the front. Overall a great eye-catcher.
You can customize the length of your new skirt. We recommend: Mini - mid-thigh -, midi - knee-hugging - and maxi - ankle-length. Maybe you just treat yourself to three variations, then you don't have to decide!
We have the perfect name for this swinging favorite: UDARA is Indonesian and translates into "air". By the time the skirt blows around your legs, you'll know why it simply can't be called anything else.
Sewing level:
The skirt UDARA can be mastered by anyone who has a little sewing experience or simply dares to try more. And if it gets a little tricky with the button placket or waistband, our detailed instructions will definitely give you a hand.
Fabric recommendations:
The best choice for your skirt is woven fabric, but stretchy fabrics are suitable as well. Fabrics that are soft-flowing and have a nice drape will look great, such as chiffon, viscose, batiste, light cotton fabrics. Linen and light denim fabrics will also work.
For the autumn/winter season, fabrics can be a little denser. However, it is important that they have a nice drape. And the fabric must be able to be gathered, otherwise the waistband section will not fall so loosely.
Fabric consumption:
How much fabric you need for your new skirt is quite easy to calculate. The following formula applies to a fabric width of 150 cm including seam allowance and buffers.
2 x desired skirt length plus 15 cm = fabric length
That is, if your skirt should have a skirt length of 64 cm starting at the waist - in my case this is knee-hugging - then you calculate as follows: 64 cm + 64 cm + 15 cm = 143 cm
If you want to sew the maxi version, you will be fine with 2.50 m for all sizes.
