It is wonderfully versatile, extremely casual and can be reinterpreted over and over again - the pattern KEREN! Already the basic version with long sleeves convinces with a particularly beautiful detail: a laterally incorporated wedge. It can be sewn in the same tone or as part of a stylish pattern mix. In addition, the shirt features cheeky sleeves in a fake-layer look.
The shirt, slightly waisted, can be sewn optionally with round neck or V-neck. And as soon as the temperatures allow it, KEREN is also an eye-catcher when sewn as a T-shirt version. The shirt is preferably sewn from stretchy fabrics, such as jersey or French Terry. For the neckline, we recommend a matching cuffed fabric.
The pattern KEREN lives up to its name. It's Indonesian and translates into "cool". You will surely agree with us! The shirt is not only casually cool cut, but also convinces with a number of details.
This pattern is actually quite easy to sew, but the incorporation of the side part as well as the fake layer look sleeves do require a little bit more attention. That's why we've rated the pattern as medium in terms of difficulty. However, thanks to detailed and illustrated instructions, even beginners will have a lot of fun sewing.
Fabric recommendations:
In general, stretchy fabrics are suitable for KEREN - jerseys, knitted fabrics and French Terry fabrics. In the case of sweatshirt fabrics pay attention to their elasticity properties. With the wrong fabric the sleeves could eventually become too tight. Thin jerseys are of course recommended especially for the summer months. Sports fabrics will of course also work great.
Tip: For the V-neck version, we recommend using fusible web to reinforce the neckline tip. It is slightly stretchy and provides stability.
Fabric consumption:
The fabric consumption will of course be very individual as probably different fabrics are mixed together. Tip: you can wonderfully recycle fabric leftovers! Take a look in your leftover boxes.
If you want to mix different fabrics, you have to calculate the fabric consumption yourself. Simply measure the width and height of the paper pattern pieces in the desired size. Do not forget the seam allowance of 0.7 - 1 cm all around and to double the measured value in the width (fold!). For height, add the hem allowance of 2 - 3 cm. Finally, add a few cm of tolerance.
As an orientation for the maximum fabric consumption, for a uniform fabric (fabric width 150 cm including seam allowance, 3 cm hem and buffer):
Sizes S - M = 1.60 m Sizes L - XL = 1.75 m Size XXL = 2.10 m
