Simple garter stitch and stockinette stitch combine with sinuous short rows to give this asymmetrical triangle shawl its unique look. The colors flow through the hues of a beach sunset, giving you the fun of watching the yarn yield up its mysteries. Meditative knitting, along with a gorgeous gradient yarn, combine for a relaxing yet satisfying knitting experience. The shawl is knit to a looser gauge to create a soft cushy fabric that drapes nicely. It is worked from the narrow point to the wide end. You may use mini skein sets such as those from Space Cadet, Black Trillium, or Phydeaux yarns.
Shawl can be made larger if you have more yarn. Size shown uses one skein (360 yds/325m) of sport weight yarn. Instructions include directions to make a larger shawl.

Brenda Castiel Designs
I’ve been knitting on and off since my teens, but became somewhat obsessed with it in 2007. I love squishy wools for the short, mild Los Angeles winters, and like light-weight wools, cottons and blends for the rest of the year. I really believe that even beginner knitters can create something beautiful and useful, so I strive to keep patterns simple yet original. I have sold designs to Interweave Knits, Vogue Knitting, Knit Picks, Knit Now magazine, Classic Elite Yarns, and Three Irish Girls Yarns, and have been published in several books. I produce a monthly newsletter with knitting tips, freebies, reviews, and giveaways -- please sign up at www.knitandtravelandsuch.blogspot.com. Get a free pattern when you sign up.
