Peace begins with a smile, and a homemade meal!
This pattern describes in US terminology, how to crochet a lovely set of Peace Sign potholders, as shown in pictures, made using sport weight cotton yarn and crochet hook D (3 mm). The potholders are double layered, making them sturdy and thick enough to hold all hot dishes. Schachenmayr / SMC Catania was used to create the pictured potholders. Finished size will be approx. 6.7” x 6.7” (17 x 17 cm), including the edges.
These handy potholders are made in 2 separate panels. The front panel is worked up with a centered Peace Sign, followed by rounds of interesting different stitches in bright colors. The back panel is worked in continuous rounds, in solid white. Front and back panels are joined with a single crochet edging all around, finished with a hanging loop.
You can use all of your scraps of yarn for these lovely potholders, for a colorful and cheery look, just make sure though, that the yarn scraps are the same weight and material.
Skill level: intermediate crochet.
Approx. Gauge: gauge is not important for this pattern, just make sure to maintain your tension throughout the project.
