Contains:
- detailed step-by-step pattern
- with pictures where necessary
- appendix with knitting techniques
Materials you need at home:
- Leftover yarn in BLACK and WHITE. The best results you will probably get with sock yarn or merino yarn with a yardage of approximaltely 130 yards (120 sts) to 200 yards (180 sts), per 1.76 ounces (50 g). Altogether (including stuffing) my panda weighs only 21 grams!
- 2 beads, safety eyes or halfbeads
- Felt in BLACK, sewing thread in BLACK
- Set of double pointed needles according to the yarn you choose – I suggest to use smaller sizes than usual to make the fabric really tight
- Sewing needle, darning needle
- Polyester stuffing or similar, scissors, glue
THE STASH GOBBLERS #01
With Panda Xiao-Xiao I start the new pattern series "The Stash Gobblers". All the patterns will be made of leftover yarns, sometimes a bit more, sometimes just bits and pieces. Some will be designed for real beginners, some will be more challenging – but always small enough to knit or crochet up quickly.
Xiao-Xiao means "Small-Small" in Chinese, and small he ist: He weighs only 21 g including stuffing! He is an easy knit, suitable for beginners who are not afraid to knit with double pointed needles in the round.
You should know basic knitting techniques. The following techniques are explained in full detail: increases and decreases, mattress stitch, feston stitch (buttonhole stitch)
Have fun knitting! Yours Steffi from cats&hats

I love knitting! (There will be a longer version of my introduction soon, but for the time being, this sentence says it all, doesn't it?)
