Opal is named for the gentle air bender in Season 2 of the Avatar. With this Hat, the short rows create soft, swirly clouds which push and pull the air currents.
Featuring short row colourwork, each of the Elemental Hats is knit sideways and grafted. The pattern is presented as a map for the short rows - a directional chart - that will help guide you through the pattern.
Skills required: Knit & purl sts, short rows, provisional cast-on, grafting, chart reading
Note Sizing in this pattern is achieved through gauge. The sideways nature of this design creates a great deal of stretch, so do consider the negative ease.
