Merindah means 'beautiful' in a local Australian Aboriginal language, so I chose it as a name for this pattern. This blanket is classic in its style, perfect for an heirloom gift. Big bonus: The pattern calls for Aran weight yarn and knits up faster than most heirloom baby blanket patterns.
The diamond encased cables are floating on a reverse garter stitch background; all edges are enclosed by an I-cord, which is knit as you go along. Merindah is a great blanket for a baby or toddler, but also makes a lovely lap blanket.
The size of this blanket can be adjusted easily. Add or subtract 12 sts ( one repeat) for each 5 cm (2") in width and work 36 rows (one repeat) more or less for each 15 cm (6") in length.
