Materials you need at home:
- For the outside denim, corduroy, nylon... a type of fabric that is a bit thick without being too rigid. Or you can pick a fabric that’s seemingly a bit too thin and add interfacing to it. 90 cm large x 15 cm high or 35 1/2’’ x 6’’
- For the inside lining, thin cotton fabric, printed polyester (like mine). 110 cm large x 15 cm high or 43 1/3’’ x 6’’
- Bias tape or cotton twill tape 1 m or 1 yard,
- For the string (made of the same cotton twill tape) 63 cm or 0.7 yard,
- 3 snap fasteners and the necessary tools,
- A 30 cm or 12’’ long minimum zipper,
- Double-sided sewing tape to help in sewing the aforementioned cotton twill tape, , - For the little jewelry strips, you can make them with fabric or use leather, vegan leather, cork (in which case no need for seam allowances). You can also use rivets instead of sewing them.
- Optional piping
Mayo is a round little purse designed to store and transport a couple of chosen jewelry pieces, hair accessories or even make up. The size is cute and small, enough to fit in the hand.
Dimensions: 4.5 x 11 cm or 1.8’’ x 4 1/3’’
Difficulty level: The purse is not very complicated to sew, but requires knowing how to sew a zipper and cotton twill tape, and adding snap fasteners to one’s work. This project is will enable you to use scrap fabric, and to experiment a bit aesthetically by combining colors, materials and prints, as I enjoyed doing.

Oui sewing patterns
Hi there ! My name is Isabelle and I am the one behind Oui Sewing Patterns, a brand dedicated to easy-to-follow sewing patterns for a simple, functional and dynamic wardrobe. My interest for sewing started as I was living in Berlin, Germany, where I lived for 3 years. But more than this, this brand stems in my love for design and fashion design in particular, I guess growing up in Paris is responsible in some way... Hope you enjoy my work !
