This coatigan is knit top-down with an interesting- to-work and lovely lace detail creating the raglan lines and center back panel. After the sleeves are separated, the lace detail continues along the sides to create a faux seam. This garment is an homage to the grace and strength of the women who raised me and the women who surround me.

Afifa Sayeed
Born in the Indian sub-continent and educated in Asia, Europe and the United States, I currently live in California. My work is informed by all these cultures. Passionate about bringing together elements of classic design from a variety of sources to create something new and original, I bring a modern sensibility and love of construction to the art of knitting. In the past three years, I have published a full wardrobe of garments from fingerless mittens, cowls, hats, scarves, shawls, sweaters, and more. I conduct knitting workshops seasonally, regularly contribute promotional designs for some of California’s favorite local yarn shops, and have collaborated with several independent dyers across the country.
