The ebook includes the pattern TAMAT for babies by Nähfrosch, detailed sewing instructions with many photos and adjustment options, as well as practical tips for sewing.
This baby pattern will delight moms and dads, since the little one is perfectly wrapped up thanks to the high neckline - especially on cooler days. And the baby will also feel very comfortable in the slim-fitting jacket with raglan sleeves. Thanks to the side button placket nothing is pinching - neither when sleeping nor when sitting or playing. And perhaps best of all: TAMAT can be worn either as a shirt, which is easy to put on and take off, or as a jacket with something underneath.
Stretchy fabrics and preferably materials that are not too thin are recommended. We consider jersey, sweatshirt fabrics, French terry, jacquard and knitwear to be ideal materials, whereas the cuffs are best sewn using cuffed fabric. It also may need some iron-on interfacing and buttons or snaps.
TAMAT is not only a sweet name but also fits perfectly, in our opinion. TAMAT is Indonesian and translates into "over". Perfect for a jacket, right?
Of course, a button placket can be a bit tricky, especially with stretchy fabrics. But we'll show you what to look out for and give you the right tips. Then the pattern is child's play.
Fabric recommendations:
Stretchy fabrics and preferably materials that are not too thin are recommended. For instance, we think jersey, sweatshirt fabrics, French terry, jacquard and knit are great choices. For little ones, look for high-quality materials such as cotton jersey, Tencel/Lyoncell jersey, cotton-bamboo blends, or even merino wool jersey. The cuffs are best sewn from cuffed fabric. You may also need some interfacing and buttons or snaps.
Fabric consumption:
For the baby jacket TAMAT you need the following amounts of fabric (based on 150 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffers):
56 - 62 = 40 cm 68 - 74 = 45 cm 80 - 86 = 50 cm 92 - 98 = 55 cm
Additional material
- For reinforcing the button placket: e.g. fusible web "H609"
- Thin cuff fabric for the cuffs and button placket
- Snap fasteners for the button placket
