When I was a kid decorating the Christmas tree was always a big event. And I cannot tell what was shining more – alls those pretty balls or the eyes of us kids looking at them. 🎄
You can use these blocks in various different projects: mini quilts, small draw strings as gift packaging, placemats oder coasters. Or make a table runner or a wall hanging with all six of them or combine them with other festive blocks for a whole Christmas quilt.
The pattern comes in three sizes (4“, 5“ and 6“) with coloring sheets for each variation and a bunch of design examples. All variations have only two pattern templates so it's a pretty quick sew. The templates have a ¼“ seam allowance, there are no curves or y-seams.
The pattern comes as PDF files in A4 and US Letter paper format.
This is a very beginner friendly Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) pattern that assumes basic knowledge of paper piecing. It does not include detailed FPP instructions or further instructions for turning it into e.g. a pillow or a quilt. You can find lots of free tutorials for the various FPP methods online.
Each variation can be made with just a few cotton scraps from your stash.

I grew up with the sound of my mum's and grandma's sewing machines and have been sewing since my teenage years. Focused on clothes and accessories first a few years ago I caught the patchwork virus and have been hooked up ever since.
Meanwhile I create my own designs and write patterns for traditional piecing and foundation paper piecing in English and German for beginners and advanced sewers. I love to experiment with different colors and designs and to see what others create with my ideas.
