Materials you need at home:
- Fabric: You can use all types of jersey fabrics (cotton, Milano, viscose, velvet, linen, French terry...), from lightweight to medium-heavy (between 140 and 340 gsm). The key is to ensure that the stretch percentage is between 40% and 60%. For children smaller sizes, opt for fabric with around 60% elasticity to make it easier for the head to pass through.
- From 1 1/3 yards (for size 2 years) to 2 7/8 yards of fabric (for size 56 women)
- 1 matching 8” invisible zipper
- 16” of clear stay tape
- Jersey bias tape if you wish to make it without a collar and/or without sleeves. It can be matching or contrasting, depending on your taste and the type of finish you prefer.
- Interfacing H609 or special jersey interfacing to give structure to the collars
- A jersey needle, with the size depending on the thickness of your fabric
- Matching thread, especially for topstitching
Gaby is a princess-seam dress or top/blouse for women and children, perfect for mid-seasons. It features several panels that add to its uniqueness, and an invisible zipper allows you to open or close it at the front neckline.
Gaby is a multi-option pattern. You can choose between two types of collars (stand collar or Mandarin collar) and two types of sleeves (classic, adjustable to the desired length, or flutter sleeves, also adjustable in length). Gaby can also be sewn without a collar or sleeves, which further increases the possible versions. And as an ultimate bonus, there are even optional pockets to add if desired.
You can shorten it (for a top or blouse version) or lengthen it as you wish, and the same goes for the sleeves. You can assemble it with an overlocker (except for certain steps) or a sewing machine. Make sure to read the entire booklet carefully before starting to avoid missing any important information.
I will explain how to adjust the pattern to your body shape: - For women: Connect between sizes and make a bust adjustment according to the cup size - For children: Adjust the bust and waist
In this pack, it is available for children from 2 to 14 years (13 sizes) and for women from 34 to 56 (12 sizes), but you can also find each model individually.
