Fog Bank is a simply shaped, super chunky hat and mittens set, embellished by gradient-style colour changes. The colours are worked in simple stripes, but a clever use of slipped stitches creates a fun zagging transition without the trouble of stranding. Both hat and mittens are worked in the round from the bottom up. The mittens have a ribbed cuff and the thumb is worked after finishing the thumb gusset and before moving on to complete the rest of the hand. The hat features a Garter Stitch brim. The super bulky yarn, easy colourwork, and simple shaping make for a speedy knit that’s cozy and fun.
Skills required: knitting in the round, Magic Loop technique (or you may choose to use two 24” circular needles for two circulars technique, or a 16” long circular needle for the hat and DPNs for the hat crown and mitts), increases, decreases, slipped stitches, picking up stitches, make a pompom
