The duffle coat is a typically English garment whose origins lie in military clothing. The coat has long had its place in fashion and reappears from time to time in a new, altered style. Here we have used a genuine duffle coat fabric, which is characterised by being plain on the outside and checked on the inside.
The coat is therefore not lined. We have sewn the original model with a bias tape, which requires a bit of work, but also looks very chic. The hood is also something special here: due to the clever cut, it lies flat on the back and therefore has more the shape of a collar.
For those who prefer a less elaborate finish, we briefly introduce two other finishing options: Serging with woven tape or method for those in a hurry: serging with the overlock machine.
The pattern is definitely intended for experienced sewing professionals and requires a lot of sewing experience.
