Wighton is a neat little shrug, crocheted with Scheepjes Whirl, a 4ply cotton blend yarn with beautiful colour changes. The design plays with the colour changes and uses raised/post stitches to add texture.
Written pattern, in both UK and US terms, with instructions to make in small, medium and large (approx 30”, 40” and 50” high bust - measured under the shoulder blades, as high as possible under the arms and across the top of the bust). Instructions are also included to adjust the pattern for a custom fit. The shrug fits with approximately 2” of negative ease. Measured underarm to underarm with shrug laid flat and unstretched, small is 14”, medium is 19” and large is 24”.
Small and medium are easily made with just one Whirl (with enough left from the medium to make a beanie). The large sample I made used all but 2g of the Whirl, so if you are making a larger size you might want to have a Whirlette to hand just in case.
The sample was made with Blueberry Bam Bam. Model is wearing medium. Model measures 40” at high bust, 42” at high bust.
