This cowl will brighten up your winter, or make it for someone who could use some color in their life. Knit in the round, the cowl features alternating stripes with slipped stitches cleverly used to create vertical lines as well as horizontal. It uses seed stitch borders to finish off the top and bottom edges. It is shaped to be wider at the bottom than the top so it will sit nicely on the shoulders.
The fingerless mitts match the cowl.
Choose two complementary colors, or go bold! The stripes are perfect to show off a beautiful variegated, speckled or gradient yarn, matched with a solid yarn.
Meditative knitting, along with two pretty yarns, combine for a relaxing yet satisfying knitting experience.
MEASUREMENTS Cowl: 30”/75cm around at lower edge, and 10”/25cm deep Mitts: 8”/20cm around and 7½“/19cm long
Brenda Castiel Designs
I’ve been knitting on and off since my teens, but became somewhat obsessed with it in 2007. I love squishy wools for the short, mild Los Angeles winters, and like light-weight wools, cottons and blends for the rest of the year. I really believe that even beginner knitters can create something beautiful and useful, so I strive to keep patterns simple yet original. I have sold designs to Interweave Knits, Vogue Knitting, Knit Picks, Knit Now magazine, Classic Elite Yarns, and Three Irish Girls Yarns, and have been published in several books. I produce a monthly newsletter with knitting tips, freebies, reviews, and giveaways -- please sign up at www.knitandtravelandsuch.blogspot.com. Get a free pattern when you sign up.
