Who does not know it?
You bought a great SVG file and would now like to process it. But it cannot be opened in the plotter and is not recognized by the device! What a crap too! Again all the money for nothing!
But that's not true! Brother devices can read and cut FCM files!
What is the best way to use SVG files with Brother cutting machine? These support the SVG file format for small, simple SVG files. However, larger, more complex SVG files can usually not be read by the Brother devices and unfortunately it can often and quickly happen that the error code "File contains too many patterns" is displayed and the file cannot be loaded from the device.
However, the SVG files are prepared for cutting in no time at all in Brother CanvasWorkspace and converted to Brother's proprietary FCM format, which Brother's cutting machine still use process rather than the SVG format.
I recommend preparing the SVG file in the desktop version of Brother Canvas Workspace This can be found here: canvasworkspace.brother.com
I myself have been using Brother CanvasWorkspace with my Brother machine from the very first hour!
For some reason I can't explain, many Brother machine users seem to think so you could just send an SVG to your device without having to edit the SVG file. But there are actually no devices that are not controlled with their own software program! There must be a reason for this!
Files included in the zip folder: FCM - Brother file JPG - 300DPI PNG - Transparent background
To make the work easier, the FCM files are included in the download folder already changed in the correct cutting order. (In the case of iron-on films, simply mirror them!) The FCM file can easily be uploaded again and again to Brother CanvasWorkspace, changed and then saved again as an FCM file to be used with Brother machines.
There are now apps for smartphones from every cutter supplier. That sounds super and easy at first, because we do everything via smartphone, don't we?
I have to confess that I'm not a fan of it because in my experience smartphones are and Reports from others unfortunately still not ready for plotting comfortably and smoothly to allow. The power is simply not enough for the apps to have more complex files at all can open. There are complications and error messages for a variety of reasons.
Therefore, I recommend working on a PC/laptop for cutting. ...you can see everything there much better, bigger and more comfortable to control with a mouse or trackpad.
I heartily recommend it! Convert the SVG file to the FCM file in Brother CanvasWorkspace and so working with a Brother machine is really fun!
