The perfect pattern to use for an Hawaiian shirt, all you need is the classic Hawaiian print fabric to make a fabulous shirt for the summer holidays --- your little guys will love this one. The Thomas Shirt is a casual shirt with open revere collar, short sleeves and a double yoke. The styling is typical of a standard men’s casual shirt. Suitable for boys and girls, the fit is generous to give comfort and a stylish loose and roomy look.
It looks great in almost any fabric. For girls you can go with gorgeous big florals and checks.
SIZES: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 --- to fit children from 2 to 14 years old --- always check the size chart for your correct size, chest and height measurements are the best guide. A size chart in Centimeters and Inches is included in the pattern file.
FABRIC: Light weight woven fabrics are the most suitable --- poplin, lawn, homespun and similar fabrics. Also suitable; very lightweight denim or chambray, linen, and Fuji rayon. For ease of handling and to minimize fraying choose fabrics with a close weave e.g. poplin. Not suitable for knits.
ACCESSORIES: In addition to fabric you will also need a light weight fusing for the collar and facings and buttons for the front. The best size button to use is 10mm or 3/8”. Five to seven buttons should be adequate depending on the size you are making.
EXPERIENCE: Intermediate to advanced sewing skills to make this shirt. The shirt requires plain sewing only with neat and accurate seaming. There is a double, bagged out yoke and buttonholes. Overlocking is best to finish the seams; alternately you can use the zigzag stitch on your plain machine. Follow the sewing tutorial closely to learn how to make the shirt and to be sure to sew everything in the correct sequence.
