Easy-to-follow crochet pattern to make a decorative pear gourd with a contrasting bottom colour.
Made with double knitting (DK, light worsted weight, Category 3) yarn and a 3.5mm (US: E-4) crochet hook, the finished gourds are approximately 10cm (4 inches) long excluding their stalks.
However you can easily make larger or smaller gourds by choosing a different weight yarn and matching hook. The pattern includes detailed notes on choosing an appropriate yarn.
This pattern only uses the dc (US: sc) stitch and its decrease. It is fully illustrated with colour photos and tips are provided throughout. Plus all my crochet patterns come with my full e-mail support for any questions whatsoever.
A tutorial is included on the ‘invisible’ decrease method which is so useful to learn for 3D and amigurumi projects.
The pattern also includes a succinct, 1-page, unillustrated version of the pattern written in traditional crochet notation, for ease of printing.
This is one of my range of pumpkin and gourd crochet patterns with which you can make a stunning autumn centrepiece or cornucopia for your home.
This pattern is available in both UK and US crochet terminology. Both documents will be available for you on purchase and you can choose whichever you prefer to use.
