Light and body hugging - this is what makes the summer playsuit TIPIS an invaluable piece for warm temperatures. But it gets even better. Due to the casually overcut shoulders, the jumpsuit also sits comfortably loose at the arms and no additional sleeve is necessary. In the crotch, the one-piece has a gusset, allowing it to fit the little diaper butt perfectly. The playsuit is closed at the shoulders and crotch with snaps, for particularly easy dressing and diapering. TIPIS can be easily folded over at the sleeves and legs or can be sewn with cuffs. The optionally attached ruffle is another beautiful detail.
As for the material, we recommend comfortable jersey knitted fabric since it's a stretchy all-rounder that can handle any movement. Thin, stretchy French Terry qualities also work great.
Quite typically, the name is also to be taken literally with this Nähfrosch pattern: TIPIS is Indonesian and translates into "thin". And this perfectly describes the jumpsuit with its thin layer of clothing for the summer!
Fabric recommendations:
The material we recommend for TIPIS is knitted fabric like jersey/tricot. It's the ideal fabric for this purpose. Look for stretchy materials such as cotton jersey, jersey made of Tencel/Lyoncell, cotton-bamboo blends or even merino wool jersey. In addition to cotton jersey, jersey fabrics made from other fibers such as silk or viscose are of course also suitable. And thin, stretchy French terry qualities also work great.
For the optional ruffle, colored fabrics are perfect. You can also use light muslin, for example.
Fabric consumption:
Fabric consumption for a fabric width of 150 cm (including seam allowance and some buffer): Sizes 56 - 68 = 0.50 m Sizes 74 - 86 = 0.60 m Sizes 92 - 98 = 0.70 m
Additional material
- thin interfacing to reinforce the button plackets
- cuff fabric for the cuffs
- snap fasteners, about 10 - 13 pieces
We recommend the snap fasteners "Jersey-Drücker" by Prym. You can find all the details concerning snaps in our blog post.
