The ebook includes the pattern GAGAH by Nähfrosch with optional elephant applique, detailed sewing instructions with many photos and adjustment options, as well as practical tips for sewing.
It can hardly get any cuter, right? A pair of ultra cozy dungarees with cute elephant appliqué for the little ones! This will be your new favorite pattern for sure. The basic version with long or short legs is very easy to sew and offers enough room for the diaper bum. But that is not the only feature. The optional button placket at the crotch and the "growing" leg cuffs are very practical. Alternatively, you can of course hem the pants. Whatever suits you best. This freedom also applies to the choice of fabric. The pattern is designed for woven fabrics such as cotton, muslin, corduroy or denim, but GAGAH also looks good when being sewn as splash pants made of outdoor fabrics! We hope you have fun with it!
We simply loved the name GAGAH. It's Indonesian and translates into "dashing". The name is a perfect match for this cheeky pattern.
Sewing level:
The dungarees GAGAH are definitely suitable as a beginner project - at least the basic version with leg cuffs. Once you've mastered that, the version with buttoned crotch won't be difficult either. Most importantly, we will help you with these step by step instructions and explain everything extensively.
Fabric recommendations:
GAGAH is designed for non-stretch woven fabrics. Especially fabrics like jeans, corduroy, waffle-weave fabrics or summery muslin and linen look great. Plain cotton fabrics like poplin also work perfectly, of course - and the best part: they come in the most beautiful designs.
Dungarees are also excellent as splash or rain pants. For this purpose use waterproof fabrics or PUL (polyurethane laminate fabric) suitable for clothing.
The good thing about woven fabric is that you can make details like the bib or the elephant appliqué neatly as nothing stretches or curls.
Fabric consumption:
For a fabric width of 150 cm (including seam allowance and some buffer): Sizes 56 - 68 = 0.60 m Sizes 74 - 80 = 0.70 m Sizes 86 - 98 = 0.80 m
You can also easily calculate the amount needed yourself. Simply measure the width and height of the paper pattern pieces according to your desired size. Do not forget to add a seam allowance of 0.7 - 1 cm all around, as well as doubling the measured value in width (fold). In height, add seam allowances of up to 2-3 cm. Finally, add a few cm tolerance at the end.
Additional material
- If applicable, thin interfacing to reinforce the buttons
- Some rib cuff fabric for the cuffs
- Two buttons for the bib, alternatively snaps, buckles
- If applicable, snap fasteners for the buttoned crotch
- Various fabric leftovers and woven ribbon for the elephant appliqué
- If applicable, "Vliesofix" or other interfacing for the appliqué
