The ebook includes the pattern CERIA for babies by Nähfrosch, detailed sewing instructions with many photos and adjustment options, as well as practical tips for sewing.
Bodysuits are indispensable for little adventurers: Unlike a shirt, they stay where they are supposed to be! ;) The pattern CERIA should not be missing in any baby closet as it is somewhat special for a change.
The baby body CERIA has comfortable raglan sleeves, and is closed with push buttons on one side of the neckline. This is not only practical, but also has a great side effect: The neck area fits tightly so the little ones never have a chill at the neck. During the designing process of the pattern, we made sure that the (cloth) diaper bum is properly wrapped as well. The crotch of this bodysuit can also be opened and closed with push buttons.
By the way, you can sew the baby bodysuit with long sleeves or choose the short version. Both are included in the pattern and very easy to accomplish.
There couldn't be a better name. Wanna bet? CERIA is Indonesian and translates into "cheerful". The good mood is certainly guaranteed when trying out this bodysuit!
Sewing level
The baby bodysuit CERIA is easy to sew and quite quickly realized. We'll help you with our step-by-step instructions that will leave no questions unanswered!
Fabric recommendations & consumption
Fabric recommendations
To be honest, knit fabric is best suited for the CERIA baby bodysuit. Look for high-quality materials such as cotton knit fabric, Tencel/Lyocell, cotton-bamboo blends or even merino wool knit fabric. It's stretchy, unbeatably comfortable on bare skin and beautifully soft for your baby's skin. A definite plus is, of course, that cotton knit fabric can be washed at 60° in the washing machine. Especially for babies' underwear this is an important aspect.
In addition to cotton knit fabrics, those made from other fibers such as silk or viscose are also suitable, of course. And thin, stretchy summer sweat fabric qualities also work great.
For CERIA you need the following amounts of fabric (based on 150 cm fabric width plus seam allowances and buffers):
Sizes 56 - 68 0.50 m Sizes 74 - 86 0.55 m Sizes 92 - 98 0.60 m
You can also easily calculate the amount needed yourself. Simply measure the width and height of the paper pattern pieces according to your desired size. Do not forget to add a seam allowance of 0.7 - 1 cm all around, as well as doubling the measured value in width (fold). In height, add seam allowances of up to 2-3 cm. Finally, add a few cm tolerance at the end.
Additional: - For reinforcing the button placket e.g. interfacing "Vlieseline H609" - Thin rib cuff fabric or knit fabric strip for the cuffs - Snap fasteners for the neckline and crotch We recommend the small "Jersey snaps" by Prym with 8mm as they have already proven themselves.
